Program, tariff and product settings can change. This page is a general preparation checklist and does not state current eligibility, pricing, savings or suitability. Confirm current details and assumptions in writing for your property.

Solar quote terminology

How to read STCs and feed-in tariffs in a quote.

Program settings and retailer plans can change. The current treatment should be clear in the written quote, and any discussion should identify its assumptions—not recycle last year’s figures.

Look for current treatment in the quote

If STCs affect the proposal, ask where that treatment appears and which current information was used. Avoid carrying old examples—or old website calculators—into a new decision.

Keep feed-in tariffs in perspective

Retailer plans and export settings can change. A conversation about solar should distinguish power used at the property from power exported to the grid.

  • Which current tariff assumptions are being used?
  • How much generation is expected to be used on site?
  • How much is expected to be exported?
  • What household changes could affect that split?

The roof, usage profile, system design and future battery or EV plans remain central. One program setting does not replace a property-specific assessment from a local installer who is still answerable after the work is done.

Clear assumptions
