Battery and inverter equipment on an exterior wall
7 minute guide · Existing systems

What to expect when an existing solar or battery system is assessed.

You don’t need to diagnose the problem or identify every component before contacting us. Start with what you have noticed and what you would like the system to do.

Systems installed by another company are welcome

Start with the system you have, who installed it if known, and what has changed. Adelaide SolarSafe can assess systems installed by another company without expecting you to produce a complete technical history first.

Describe performance concerns, messages or monitoring issues

Tell us what you noticed: a fault message, missing monitoring, lower apparent production, unexpected grid use or equipment that has stopped responding. Record the exact message where practical, but do not attempt electrical diagnosis yourself.

Consider equipment age, support and component availability

The assessment may need to consider whether equipment is still supported, whether compatible components are available and whether a repair, retrofit, staged upgrade or replacement is the clearest option.

Plan battery retrofits, EV charging and solar upgrades together

New storage or EV charging can affect the architecture of an existing system. The team will look at current solar, inverter, supply, switchboard, export controls and practical cable routes before recommending how to build on it.

Why an on-site assessment can be more useful than photos

Photos and monitoring information can help with the starting picture, but a visit allows the team to inspect labels, locations, switchboard, access and retrofit requirements in context. Adelaide SolarSafe is happy to attend the property.

What happens after assessment

The next step depends on what is found. The team can explain the observed issue, any further information needed and the practical options. A proposal should separate confirmed work from items that still depend on testing or equipment availability.
